What's Wordplay?
Wordplay is Charlottesville’s own live game show. It’s a team-based competition for people who love words, vocabulary, pop culture, history, literature, and showing off how smart they are. If you enjoy crosswords, word games, and trivia, Wordplay is for you!

Who benefits?
Wordplay is a fundraiser for Literacy Volunteers Charlottesville-Albemarle. LV/CA is an independent, non-profit organization that offers free, confidential, individualized basic literacy and ESL instruction to adults.
When and where is it?
Wordplay 2009 will take place in April at the Omni Hotel. Date to be announced. We play in teams of three, so if you want in on the action, start thinking about who you want on your team.
What’s the game like?
Go play a little sample game. Note that in the live competition, there are time limits for each question. In the sample, you can take as a long as you want. You need to be able to view Flash movies, and you need sound.
Is it for adults only?
Wordplay is open to everyone who wants to participate on a team of three. The game is geared for adults, but teens should do fine.
How do we sign up?
To participate, you purchase a sponsorship. There are many different levels. Team sponsorships start at $500. You can purchase a sponsorship online or download our sponsorship form and send it in.
